Delightful Dahlias Workshop

This in person, hands on workshop will teach you how to plant, grow, harvest, dig and divide dahlias, even if you are brand new.

September 30th 1pm to 5pm at Idlewild Blooms in Stanwood, WA.

What you'll learn:

• Tricks for beating the dahlia wars and ordering the unicorn varieties you want.
• Hands on practice planting tubers.
• Exact schedules for watering and fertilizing.
• Hands on practice harvesting dahlias for good vase life or show.
• How to keep excellent records and tag your plants.
• Disease and pest management 101.
• How to harvest dahlia seeds.
  
• The secret of multiplying your stock through cuttings.
  
• Hands on practice digging tuber clumps.
• Hands on practice dividing tuber clumps.
• Advice for storing dahlia tubers over winter.

What you'll receive:

• The Dahlia Logbook

What to bring:

• Please wear field shoes (boots if possible) and bring a rain jacket as the weather in late September is unpredictable.
  
• A pair of gardening gloves that fit you.

What to expect:

• We will spend some time hands on in my dahlia field working with tubers and cutting dahlias.
• We will spend the rest of the time in a covered patio for the teaching and note taking portion of the class.
• Fingers crossed we have good weather but please note we will still be working in the field if it is raining so come prepared!
